![]() I remember trying out several different codecs, but I will try again. I didn't know why they were insisting on going through Resolve. It would be much easier (and probably better) to pass it over and let the Online crew take care of the rest. Apparently, my bosses know there is a Avid-to-Baselight workflow, BUT they want me to do the conform on my end to save money. Figured I could send over a bin with my raw media, and let the Baselight pros at the Online house work their magic. And upon finding this out yesterday, I did a little happy dance, and thought my problems were solved. PROJECT DEVELOPMENTS: Yes, there is an Avid/Baselight workflow. Whenever I reference C300 in my post, I'm talking about the Mark II. The metadata says XF-AVC Intra RGB444, for what it's worth. The lowest you can do is long-GOP in 10bit, with a smaller data rate at 1920 x 1080. RESEARCH DEVELOPMENTS: C300MKII doesn't even have the option of 8bit anymore. Questions: Does this sound like a good plan? Any glaring holes or mistakes? Should I try to conform in 4k, since some of my footage is 4k, or would that be a good time to bring everything down to HD? I'd say our footage is going to be maybe 1/3 C300, maybe 1/3 4k Alexa, and the rest is just mixed HD files. Has anyone done this before? I've only used Resolve to re-wrap clips for Offline, so I'll be spending the next week or so watching tutorials, learning the software. We are trying to preserve the raw camera codec rather than using Avid to transcode, as it just seems that C300 and Avid don't play well together. The plan is to link the final sequence back to my raw, full resolution clips, pass the sequence into Resolve, and conform the clips to an AAF that I can send out to a Baselight system. The team is trying to fix the issue this time around. We had no choice but to send out the finished product, banding and all. We ended up transcoding all the C300 shots to 1:1 MXF, but STILL we had banding. The Colorist and several producers were unhappy with the C300 color banding that showed up after transcode, no matter how high we went with resolution. On our last show, we used a similar workflow, but we color corrected in Avid. It's a little annoying to have to switch back and forth, but we make it work. We have to do all our exports in MC 7 because the Sapphire effects only work on that version. We pretty much use MC 8 to AMA link the C300 clips, transcode them, and then switch back to MC 7. We have Avid MC 8 because the C300 Mk II footage is NOT compatible with any earlier versions of Avid. We're working with footage from the Arri Alexa (4k and HD), and C300 Mk II (HD), as well as a DJI Osmo drone (5k), and a few other cameras. The Editors and Producers use Avid MC 7 for the offline edit. One drive is Avid MC 7 with Sapphire 7 licenses. Hi friends!
